A good day
Posted by timotheus on October 2nd, 2007 filed in RandomThis last weekend I spent in Berkeley with my friends, to see what we did, check out Susan’s post here. She sums up my visit really well. It was a great time.
Today I was off work. I planned on sleeping in a little bit, but ended up not stirring until 10:50. Wow, i never do that. I mean, I did when I was in Berkeley, but that’s mainly due to the fact we stayed up very late.
I woke up, showered, had some toast and a glass of chocolate milk (I act like a 6 year old at times. This includes foodstuffs) I had several good thoughts while I was taking my shower, and acted on them immediately. Once I was dry.
I powered up nightcube, my AWESOME low power comp I made, and hopped online. I logged into myspace, and deleted my account. I’ve had an account since 2003. Why do that, you may ask. Well it’s because myspace tied me to a lot of things I want to grow out of, such as heavy partying, etc. I realize that although I don’t use it so much anymore, it’s keeping me tied in that world, by checking on people I know, etc. I would check that at least 3 times a day. it was just a bad thing for me. Now that it’s gone, I really feel like I’ve entered a new phase or something. I feel lighter.
The next thing I did was to reduce my netflicks from a two-at-a-time plan to one. I did this because I want to watch more anime! My TV time is finite, and anime is a better use of it than movies, I think.
On a little side note, Netflicks is a really classy business. I looked at my billing, and saw I paid through the 18th of October for the two at a time. I figured lowering my plan would cause me to get one at a time, but the reduced billing would start next month. I’d lose about 16 days of the extra DVD. I was prepared for that, but after I lowered my plan, I saw a message which said that my plan would be adjusted AFTER my current billing cycle was over. That was very gentlemanly of them.
After this, I had a quick cheese and pickle sandwich (yum) and headed to the library. I found some pretty good titles; I checked out six books in all. I got home around two, and read pretty much nonstop until 7pm. I read Stephen White’s “Harm’s Way”, which is a pretty good murder mystery. Whenever I read for an extended period of time I get motivated to write, hence this blog post. (I think too, this is why in Stephen King’s “On Writing” he says a good writer should read half the day, then write.)
I just finished my dinner of steamed broccoli and a burrito, so I’ve got my B’s covered for today, ha ha.

I had the same feelings about MySpace and that whole lifestyle. Now it is Vox that I am ready to abandon.
Loved your visit Tim. Feel free to come back soon. *_*

I will have to try that, reading then writing. At Half-Priced books I found that they sold the AD&D Complete Guide’s (for Wizards, Rouges, Druids, etc.) for $2 a piece. I was a little dubious, but I recalled this cathartic release in my memory of reading them. Sure enough I was glad I picked one up, it really gets my creative juices flowing. Looks like November could be a real reading/writing month…
I grappling with walled gardens on the web. Flickr just informed me they took down photos of mine because someone asked them to. That is unacceptable to me. On the other hand, something Upcoming is useful to me since event information in that form is transient in nature, and not something I care about letting a third-party handle.
Decisions, decisions.
I was about to say that we should discuss this in the fora, but I haven’t moved them yet… =P

I actually had a discussion on walled gardens during lunch yesterday. Where your intellectual property is concerned, such as stories, pictures, etc, I don’t like walled gardens. Appointments and so on, not such a big deal.
What is this Upcoming you’re talking about?
And yes, the forums need their new home!
