Weekend of Feb 8th; action packed!

-Friday-
My buddy Donald called out of the blue. He was in town, and wanted to hang out for a bit. He stopped by the house, and we talked for almost two hours. Around 8:30, we decided to head out and enjoy all that the folsom nightlife has to offer. That was sarcasm.
We went to Pizzeria Classico, a restaurant 3 blocks from my house on Sutter Street. (Sutter Street is the main drag in Old Folsom, which is primarily restaurants and pubs.) Mills, Dutt, Jeff and some others were working, so we were accosted with free food and beverages; not a bad thing. Mills had a concert to play at the following day in Oakland, and the poor guy had a horrible cold. As lead singer of BREVA, having a cold was kind of a problem. I hear their show went ok though, so thats good.
After socializing with the pizza crew, we went to FLB (Folsom Lake Bowl, for those not in ‘the know’) and said hi to Greg. He was working his one night a week there, dealing blackjack. It was pretty busy there, but in a good way. Ran into my friend Taryn, who I found out just got divorced. She was doing ok though; boy was she upset about the Primary Elections here in CA. She is a diehard republican who voted for Romney. She thought he was the Republicans last hope or something. I said I had thought Ron Paul was a much more authentic Republican. Discussion ensued.
After that it was like 1am, so Don dropped me off at my house, then I went to bed.
-Saturday-
Woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed, and really in the mood to be productive. This doesn’t happen often.
I worked in my room for over 4 hours, going through alll my boxes of books, deciding what I will keep, and what I will pass on. Final tally is looking like 3 boxes will stay with me, 6 will go to new homes.
Around 4 I went up to my parents house to go through some of the boxes I have up there, after which I had dinner. Meg was there too. Had a lot of good chats.
Then I started getting calls from Greg, who wanted to hang out. I was planning on staying in, but it didn’t work out that way.
Went home, changed into clothes appropriate to wear when you might need to make good 1st impressions on peoples. Greg came by, picked me up and we went to Pollio’s house. (Like 7 blocks away) Pollio was there with his wife, Rhino was there too with his GF, Kelvin and someone I didn’t know.
Pollio’s house has a one car garage, and it’s his little retreat. He has three motorcycles he’s working on, all of them are over 30 years old. It is one of the coolest little work areas I’ve ever seen; has tons of personality. Next time I go over I’m bringing my camera.
Ryan called and wanted everyone to come over because it was his birthday, so all 8 of us walked over to his house, where there was a lot more people. His place is right over Old Folsom; the kitchen windows have a pretty awesome view. Again.. no camera.
Ryans girlfriend Jenny was running around playing hostess. Seriously, the girl is super nice. She reminds me of a young June Cleaver, without the smoky voice. Once enough people showed up, she snuck away and came out with a cake she made, complete with candles. The cake was top notch.
Sadly, there was a moron in the group who was beginning to ruin everyones good time. Once Greg’s girlfriend Teresa showed up (she just got off her babysitting gig.) we all walked down two blocks to Sutter Street. Went up to Hacienda, a Mexican place. I knew my friend Correa was working, and it was just his bday that week, so we went up to say hi. Ended up out on the patio, with the group getting bigger by the minute as friends kept coming in.
After a while the place was closing down (2am) so everyone went their separate ways. I enjoyed my 3 block walk home, though it was a mite cold.
-Sunday-
Woke up feeling ok and starving. Went into the kitchen to make some breakfast ramen, but last second decided to call Greg. He was coming into folsom around noon, so we planned to do lunch at Red Robin. While waiting for him to show up, I watched Ep 2 of Lost, season 4. (This season totally has me hooked again)
Greg and Teresa show up, and we head to Red Robin. Do the classic motzeralla sticks and french fries for an appetizer, then I got a Turkey burger. It hit the spot.
After our lunch, to walk off the lethargicness we walked over to Kohls and perused the store for a bit. I found these AWESOME santa boxer shorts on sale for $6. They looked like santa’s pants, complete with the white fur stuff on the bottom. The best part though was it came with a hat. I nearly got it, but wisely changed my mind.
Took Teresa to her car, then Greg dropped me off at home. I took a 2 hour nap, then read The Alienist for 5 hours. It’s a pretty good book, about a mass murderer in New York City in 1898. Took a break to go to Winco at 7pm, where I stocked up on frozen burritos, mixed veggies and chocolate soy milk.
Came home, read more until 11pm (only have about a third of the book left for tonight!) then went to bed.
All in all, a very busy weekend. Sunday night was pretty fun, but that group of people do that every weekend, which would drive me crazy. I’m good now for a month or so.
Hope everyone elses weekend was good too.
